Low Cost Flights from the UK to Canada

canadadry1-68.jpgEver wonder how certain countries got their name and why companies don’t try to buy the naming rights to nations? Instead of Portugal it could be called Pepsi. Instead of Kenya there could be Kodac. Instead of Canada there could be Canada Dry.

The name Canada doesn’t come from a soft drink, but rather from the language of the St. Lawrence Iroquoians. It means “village” or “settlement”. A bit uninspired if you ask me, but the name Canada does have a nice ring to it, especially when combined with the word “O” and sung in an anthem.

These days, of course, Canada is far from being a mere village. It is a big, big country with some of the finest geography and cities around. It still maintains its small village hospitality even though it is all grown up and ready to party. It also is becoming increasingly accessible from the United Kingdom.

Zoom airlines offers low cost flights from 5 UK airports to Canada. Flights (one-way) from Gatwick to Toronto start from just £69 (excluding taxes approx £70). Return flights, including all taxes start from just £276.

With prices like that I think Canada should consider changing its name to Zoom.
